How to divide a line in perspective
Dividing a line accurately becomes more difficult when that line is receding in perspective. Equal distances on the page no longer represent equal distances in space, so simply measuring along the receding line won't work.
One useful solution is to temporarily flatten the line. First transfer the receding line onto a flat measuring line, where you can divide it normally into halves, thirds, quarters or any other proportion you need. Those divisions can then be projected back onto the original line in perspective.
This is particularly useful when you want more control over proportions without repeatedly subdividing the perspective drawing itself.
