How to draw a boat in perspective
Boats can be surprisingly difficult to draw because the hull combines perspective with complex curved forms. Instead of trying to copy the outline, it can help to first simplify the boat into a basic three-dimensional construction.
In this short demonstration, I start by establishing the main proportions and perspective of the boat before constructing the curves of the hull inside that structure.
Thinking this way makes it easier to understand how the bow, stern and sides relate to one another in space, and gives you a framework that can be adapted to different boat designs and viewing angles.
